Stanley Ann Dunham

Saturday August 30, 2008
I'm still oozing admiration for Barack Obama's mother, Stanley Ann Dunham, who I knew very little about before watching the Democratic National Convention. What a remarkable woman. I'm busy reading as much as I can find about how she continued her education while working and raising her children, and I'll get back to you with her story.

Have a fun, relaxing holiday weekend if you're in the U.S. Eat a homemade pickle. Be safe.

In the spirit of continuing adult education I’ve actually been listening to politician speeches for the first time in my life. I’ve never voted before, but for the first time, it seems possible with Obama there may be a candidate worth voting for regardless of the outcome with electoral votes. I am just appalled by republican game playing. It’s all good that woman have a chance to play in the political arena. But what a snow job - a woman from Alaska connected to OIL… I’m no Hillary fan but she is certainly a crack politician and seems genuine about her agenda, and I have confidence in her abilities. Can you imagine Sara Palin (and tall ;) making tough political international and domestic decisions? Well I suppose at least she makes a pretty puppet for the Republican political party… almost a smack in the face to the intelligence of Hillary supporters.
