Remain on Path - Inspiring Either Way

By , About.com GuideDecember 24, 2008

Follow me on:

I found a sign with this message - Remain on Path - on ljlucy's blog this morning.

My first reaction when I see something like that is to laugh. Remain on the path? Color inside the lines? Follow the rules. Conform!

Blah!

Ljlucy has another funny sign on her blog. It's a silhouette of a polar bear and it says: Blog today. Tomorrow you may be eaten.

Ljlucy is a non-traditional student. When she went back to school, she chose to live in a freshman dorm. Doesn't that take your breath away? She's a wonderful, wonderful example of the spirit I see in every lifelong learner I meet - a passionate curiosity, a burning desire to stray from the path, an absolute need to discover what's around the next corner.

At the same time, she's willing to do what it takes to reach her goal, to stay the course.

Her two funny signs tell me she's got the sense of humor it takes to beat a new path and stay the course until she reaches her goal, whatever and wherever that may be.

Thanks for being an inspiration, ljlucy!

Happy Holidays everyone!

Hey Deb, thanks so much for listening to your little web spiders when they came back with a bit about my blog. It’s always nice to see any comment come through. ;)
I love the remain on path sign. It was at a sculpture garden in Lincoln Ma. How can anyone remain on the path when there are so many wonderful things going on just over there? That’s my question.
Merry Solstice! Celebrate the sun’s return!

I am also a non-traditional learner. Enrolled in an on-line program with students half my age. It is the most exciting thing I have done in years. This MA is in Adult Eduction & Training which I have been doing for years without credentials. Every time I do research I stray off in other directions because there is so much out there to still learn.
Goodluck to you.

Isn’t it wonderful to be surprised by joy? I love it when I try something scary and it turns out to be fabulous.
Good luck to both of you, too!
And Happy New Year!
