ASTD, the American Society for Training & Development, has a review on its website of the dollars that will go toward training American workers in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, the stimulus package. Included is a chart specifying the dollars going to each agency.
The stimulus package contains over $5 billion in training for a variety of programs.... With billions devoted to training, it is clear that U.S. lawmakers understand the important connection between learning, job creation, and economic recovery. This increased focus on training means that everyone in the workplace learning and performance profession has a huge opportunity to engage in the economic recovery efforts.
This means that a lot of adults will soon be in a classroom of one sort or another, learning new jobs, helping each other put our country back together. I'd like to hear from those of you who are involved as either students or teachers. Share your story. Ask your questions. We're in this together.

I am 50 years old and have started postgraduate professional education in 2007. On the one hand it is great experience and on the other hand I am often longing for contacts with other elderly students. I would be glad of any comment and of any advice

Other elderly students? Girlfriend! You’re not elderly, lol. I guess the younger crowd may call those of us over 50 “seniors,” but I really don’t feel very old. Do you? Pop into the Continuing Ed. Forum and join us there. It’s fun and you’ll find lots of others like yourself. What are you studying?

I have been studying innovationmanagement since 2007 and this year I will finish with master degree. Sorry for my bad english, I am a german speeking student and I have not spoken englisch for 30 years – (since I left school)
