Do You Belong to a Book Club?

Saturday April 11, 2009
I have always been an avid reader, thanks in part to my parents, who signed me up for the Dr. Seuss Book Club when I was seven. Boy, do I wish I still had that shelf full of Dr. Seuss stories, but the books were read until they literally fell apart.

Are you a bookworm? Do you belong to a book club? I'm interested in your feelings about how reading has changed your life, about the value of belonging to book clubs, about how you make reading part of your lifelong learning. Join us in the forum and tell us what you love about reading. Or just share with us what you're reading right now.

I love to read! Other than the reading I have to do for school, right now I am also reading about the race riots in Springfield, IL in 1908. Very interesting. Another book on my “to read” list is one my current History prof wrote called, “Democracy’s Prisoner” about Eugene Debs. Reading is a time machine, a travel agent, a vocabulary teacher, a brain stretcher, an imagination developer, and so much more. I love to read because it takes me places outside of myself. Even some of the highly technical readings I have to read for my Anthropology class are interesting – I am learning about something I didn’t know before.
