Be Creative - A Game from Al Beck

By April 9, 2012

Follow me on:

Are you creative? My guess is that you're way more creative than you realize. We all are. If you need a little motivation to realize how creative you are, we've got just the game: Be Creative.

"Be Creative" is based on Al Beck's innovative game Imaginative Symbol-Association from his book, Rapping Paper, Mythic Thundermugs. We changed the name only for ease of use on the Internet. Thanks, Al, for sharing this fun, wildly creative way to help students realize just how creative they really are.

I want to give a shout out to Tim's niece, Katie Boyts, who taught me how to use Illustrator so I could recreate Al's symbols for this game. Thanks Katie!

Teachers, I'd love to hear from you. Tell us how you use Al's game, and what kind of results you see.

Be creative!

OK, let me show you how uncreative my group is….

Sitting in the conference room with my Advisor (PhD) and her TA (Grad student in Psych) and none of us could figure out how to play this game.

Could have something to do with the end of the semester approaching and graduation for me and the TA in less than 30 days.

We’re waiting for another faculty member to have our meeting. I’m trying to decide whether to go for a Masters in Adult Education or Masters in Counselor Education if I plan to become an Advisor and a professor in the future.

Still waiting, so we ill try the game again.

Oh dear, Kimberly! I need to fix the instructions then. Where are you getting hung up?
