Al,

My editors have asked me to address beginners, and you’re right, I may have gone overboard in that regard. It isn’t fair to assume that every beginner (going back to school) is someone who is experiencing stress, or strain, especially when the students are adults of all ages. Duly noted, and I will be more conscious of it. (I believe this realization was your initial intent. lol. Long conversation to my realization, eh?) Thank you. J

Here’s to you and Selye.

Hi Deb:

Thank you for letting me know you've been finding value in what I've been saying. I have been responding as I have because I experience you as open-minded and willing to learn without being defensive. The learning you describe here reminds me of a strength that I discovered in myself as a teaching fellow at Michigan. I got outstanding ratings compared to other TF's because they taught to the "average" Intro Psych student while I consciously taught my class to include the extremes (i.e. I enjoyed seeing that my reputation led to my sections drawing high percentages of freshman athletes and honors students).

Keep up the good work,

Al
