Humboldt State University in Arcata, Calif., is a public institution of higher education founded in 1913. The university, part of the state of California's university system, enrolls 7,800 students across 47 undergraduate major, and 12 graduate degree, programs. Humboldt State University's Veterans Enrollment and Transition Services department works to help non-traditional students use Post-9/11 GI Bill benefits to attend undergraduate and graduate degree programs.

According to Kim Hall, ASW, the Veterans Program Administrator for the Veterans Enrollment and Transition Services department, Humboldt State University enrolls 280 students who currently use veteran education benefits through the Post-9/11 GI Bill and other veterans programs. The exact amount of GI Bill education benefits varies from serviceperson to serviceperson, or qualifying dependents, but because Humboldt State University is a state institution, and the tuition and fee total is under VA limits for tuition and fees for state residents, the GI Bill benefits should cover full tuition and fees for California residents.

Undergraduate, in-state fees and tuition for full-time students is $2,979 per semester, while out-of-state students can expect to pay that base rate plus an additional $372 per credit hour per semester. Tuition and fees for graduate students is $3,495 for California residents and the same base rate plus $372 per credit hour for out-of-state residents.
