My Review

I bought my first Kindle more than a year ago, and it's my favorite traveling companion (next to my iPad). I'm a frequent traveler, and the Kindle displaced a collection of books in my carry-on whenever I travel.

I don't have to wonder what I'll be interested in reading since I have several hundred choices at hand's reach. The main selling point for the Kindle is its vast selection of reading material. More than half of my books were downloaded for free. Also, I no longer have to travel with a dictionary, since I can click on a word and get its definition. It also lets me make notes for later reference.

I also have iBooks on my iPad, which has easier page turning and adds color, nice to have but not a deal maker. The choice from iBooks is severely limited -- so far -- compared to Amazon's Kindle. (There is an app to download Kindle purchases to your iPad.) The iPad also cost considerably more than the Kindle, but then it adds a lot more functionality to more closely resemble a laptop.

Having both an iPad and Kindle, plus an iPod, mostly for music, means I can travel extensively with an astounding range of entertainment requiring relatively little space. If the battery on one device runs down on a long flight, I can switch to another. Together, they bring a level of bliss to an otherwise tedious airplane/airport experience.

I now read more than ever because it's easier than ever.

Would you recommend this to a friend?

Yes

I can see how your Kindle and iPad make traveling a ton more convenient and enjoyable. Thanks for sharing your experience!
