My Review

I never thought I'd join the e-reader bandwagon because I love holding books. Then the libraries started to lend Kindle books and Amazon has a Prime program to get a book a month for free. After considerable research, I decided to buy the Kindle Touch. I didn't get 3G because I don't travel but if I did, I would have paid the extra money for it.

I took it out of the box and plugged it in. I find it exceptionally easy to use and the learning curve relatively flat. It came with a sample book with 3 full chapters that I began reading and loved it so much, I purchased the book, downloading it via WiFi instantly.

It fits beautifully in my purse (which is not a big one) and it's so easy on my eyes. I've been a heavy-duty reader since 2nd grade (I'm now 71). The only thing (so far) that I wish were different is that there are no page number displayed. The display shows percent completed instead. I do like to know what page I'm on.

When I put it down for the night, the next time I turn it on, I'm brought to my place in the book! I love the dictionary feature. It only takes touching the word to highlight it for the definition to pop up.

I love it...I'm glad that I bought it and if I feel like 'holding' a book, I can always do that too.

I would have given it 5 stars but I gave it 4 only because I haven't fully put it through its paces...but if you ask me a few weeks from now, I'm confident I would give it 5 stars!

Would you recommend this to a friend?

Yes

Great Aunt Sheila, thank you for your post! I just received a Kindle Fire as an early Christmas present, and I feel exactly the same way! I love to read in bed before falling asleep, and the Kindle is so much easier than holding a book. I'm 55, and I've been an avid reader since joining the Dr. Seuss Book Club in 1962! Deb
