How Good Are You with a Computer?

Monday July 28, 2008
If you're going back to school soon and are worried about using a computer, take a free computer class. Did you know they're out there? I didn't. Jamie Littlefield compiled a list of free online computer classes for people who know enough to feel comfortable with an online class.

If that's definitely not you, ask at your local schools and libraries. Many communities offer free one-day seminars.

There are lots of free opportunities out there that we don't know about unless we ask. List your worries about going back to school, and then get busy asking people how to overcome them. Mfred did just that in the Continuing Education forum, and she ended up with ten tips: five on going back to school in general, and five on fitting in.

Share your worries in the forum, or by adding a comment right here.

Update: Wait! There are five more! It's Not All in Your Head

Good resources, thanks. Working in the computer industry I don’t think people realize how many people are buying computers that don’t know how to use them. This is mainly because they have been told by other people that they “need a computer”. I think the misunderstanding a lot of these people have is that tech support and computer training are not the same thing. Computer vendors offer “tech support”, schools and other programs offer “training”. I have added classes page to my bookmarks which I’m sure will come in handy.
