Help with Math

Follow me on:

I have a friend who is afraid of losing the credits she has earned so far toward an associate's degree because she can't pass the required math test. I was glad she told me because there is help available to her that doesn't cost a thing.

My first advice was to make an appointment with the counselor at her school. Counselors are there to help you. They want you to succeed. They can tell you what resources are available at your school.

There are also free resources available online. One of my favorites is Khan Academy, found at khanacademy.org.

This particular friend has a learning disability that makes math especially difficult for her. I encouraged her to seek help from her local literacy council. Most literacy councils have math and reading tutors available for free, and they are very diligent about protecting your privacy. Nobody has to know you are there for help. What a wonderful service.

Other resources are available. Here's a list with a few more: Help with Math
