Doug - aged 79 years! He loved it, and extended for 4 weeks.
Doug was a little worried before he came, that he would be to old. But no one is every to old to learn! He arrived, and within a day was enjoying chatting to everyone, and sharing his experiences. Before long, the locals got to know him. As he learned Spanish, he would spend longer and longer chatting with the locals. They loved him, and he loved chatting to them!
But his first love was the wildlife. The fact that wandering to get money at the ATM might mean having to wait for the seal to stop sun bathing in front of it! Or the giant tortoise that seemed every day to cross our back garden. He would wait for it, and be amazed as it slowly wandered across, oblivious to students taking classes, sun bathing, or reading.
then Doug learn to snorkel for the first time. This opened up a whole new life for him. Swimming with Iguanas, turtles, and different rays. Even the (non aggressive) reef sharks. We could get him out of the water. A two-week stay was extended two more weeks, then again another two.
Doug has finally left, but has sworn that he will return - soon!
